Rekindle collects information you provide directly when you use our platform:

• Assessment responses: When you complete the readiness assessment, we store your answers and calculated readiness score associated with your session ID.
• Your story: If you choose to share your perspective on the estrangement through the story step, that content is stored privately under your session.
• Ideal outcome: If you define your reconciliation goals through the outcome step, that content is stored privately under your session.
• Contact information: If you provide an email address to save your results, or contact details for your family member, those are stored with appropriate access controls.
• Email address: Optional. If you enter your email to save results, we store it securely.

We do not require your real name, phone number, or any government-issued identification.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Generate your personalized reconciliation plan based on your assessment responses
• Save your progress so you can return to it later in the same browser session
• Send you a confirmation email if you provide your email address to save results
• Generate AI-powered outreach message recommendations tailored to your situation
• Generate a private landing page for your family member when you send an invite
• Improve our platform and understand usage patterns (aggregated and anonymized)

3. What We Don't Share

Your data is not sold, rented, or traded to any third party — ever. Specifically:

• Your story is never shared with your family member or anyone else unless you explicitly send it through the platform's outreach tools.
• Your assessment responses are private. Your family member only receives the invitation message you compose — not your assessment answers or readiness score.
• We don't use your data for advertising or to build advertising profiles.
• We don't share your data with data brokers or analytics companies for advertising purposes.

4. Data Sharing

We share your information only in these limited circumstances:

• With service providers who help us operate the platform — specifically, our cloud database provider (Neon) and our email delivery service. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
• If required by law — for example, in response to a valid legal request from law enforcement or courts.
• In the event of a merger or acquisition — your data would transfer to the acquiring entity under the same privacy protections.

5. Cookies & Tracking

We use a minimal number of cookies and similar technologies:

• Session storage (sessionStorage): Your browser stores your session ID and step progress locally. This data is never sent to our servers unless you actively submit a form.
• Essential analytics: We use Polsia's analytics infrastructure to understand site usage in aggregate. This data is anonymized and does not identify individual users.
• Facebook Pixel: We use the Meta Pixel for page view tracking and conversion events. This data is subject to Meta's privacy policy.

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or third-party advertising networks.

6. Data Retention

• Active sessions: Assessment, story, and outcome data is kept for 30 days from last activity.
• Email signups: If you provide your email to save results, your email and record are kept until you request deletion.
• Invitations sent: The invite token and basic metadata are kept for up to 1 year to support the recipient's access.

7. Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

• Access: Ask us what data we hold about you and receive a copy.
• Correction: Ask us to correct any inaccurate data.
• Deletion: Request deletion at any time — we complete within 30 days.
• Portability: Request a machine-readable export of your data.
• Objection: Object to certain uses of your data (e.g., analytics).

8. Children's Privacy

Rekindle is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at rekindle@polsia.app.

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, display a notice on our homepage for 30 days.
